The British Chamber of Commerce in Korea (BCCK), in conjunction with the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK) and ten other European Chambers of Commerce, released the results of the Business Confidence Survey 2018 on March 8, 2019.
More than 120 European company executives, representing over 38,000 employees and various industries including services and manufacturing, participated in the survey.
The survey results reflect the continuing importance of the Korean market to the European companies, as nearly half of the survey respondents reported their plans to expand business operation in 2019. However, 65% of the survey respondents also assessed the business environment in Korea to be more challenging than two years ago given signs of weakening economic growth and regulatory ambiguity.
First introduced in 2014, the annual Business Confidence Surveys have been conducted with an aim to gauge the business environment for the European businesses operating in Korea. The BCCK, in conjunction with the other participating European Chambers of Commerce, hopes that the survey report will add to the Korean government’s ongoing effort to improve the business environment of the Korean market.
