The BCCK participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) at the Four Seasons Hotel on April 5, 2019. Titled as the “ACRC Roundtable with Foreign Businesses in Korea,” the event marked its 12th year and serves as a platform for the foreign business community to share market access issues.
ACRC Chairperson Pak Un Jong welcomed the twelve heads of foreign chambers of commerce who were in attendance and provided the latest update on the Anti-Corruption Act, including the current use cases and a five-year plan to combat anti-corruption in Korea. Acknowledging Korea’s advancement in the latest corruption awareness ranking published by Transparency International, attendees agreed on the importance of continuing the anti-corruption effort in the country.
During the meeting, attendees also discussed various market access issues foreign businesses encounter in Korea. Ms. Pak appreciated the discussion and said that the input would help the Korean government to come up with practical policy measures.
Daniel Fertig, the BCCK Chairman, and Sean Blakeley, the BCCK CEO, represented the Chamber at the event.
