[News] BCCK Partakes as a Special Judge for Prince Andrew’s 2019 Pitch@Palace Korea 1.0 Startup Competition
The British Chamber of Commerce in Korea(BCCK)’s Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Sean Blakeley participated at the Pitch@Palace Korea 1.0, on May 15th, which took place at the Shilla Hotel Seoul. Mr. Blakeley attended the competition event as one of the special member judges supporting Korea’s up-and-coming enterprises and nominating the final candidates to be passed on to the next stage.
Even prior to the event itself, the Pitch@Palace Korea 1.0 drew much attention from Korean attendees and business people alike due to the attendance of Prince Andrew, Duke of York. The Pitch@Palace is an initiative founded by the Duke of York to support entrepreneurs through the amplification and acceleration of their business ideas.
On the day of the event, high level professionals and delegates from the fintech industry including that of banking, representatives of institutes such as the Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, and the BCCK listened to the presentations of 14 semi-finalists.
Mr. Blakeley noted “It was such an honour to be part of the first Pitch@Palace event hosted in Seoul and to see the great innovation which can be supported here in Korea by such an illustrious institution as the royal household.” He also explained that his participation was indicative of the active role which the Chamber seeks to play in “promoting business exchange and collaboration between the United Kingdom and Korea.”
The final three winners of Pitch@Palace Seoul will attend Pitch@Palace Commonwealth, which will take place at St. James’s Palace, in London at the end of this year. The event sketch from May 15 and clips from the pitching session are available to be viewed at the Pitch@Palace official homepage(English only).
