[EVENT] BCCK Hosts its first annual Digital Economy Forum

The BCCK held its first Digital Economy Forum at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul on Thursday June 20, 2019 with over 140 people in attendance. The event was held with the support of Partner Sponsor HSBC and Platinum Sponsor CHUBB. The event was also promoted by partners Lee & Ko, Edelman Korea, Asiance and G3 Partners.


Titled “Fintech 3.0: Evolution of Open Banking & Beyond,” leaders and pioneers of the fintech industry from all the UK, US and other parts of the world participated in the Forum to discuss the next big trends shaping the industry, business opportunities, success stories, and growth potential of fintechs in Korea in light of the lessons learnt in the UK.


British Ambassador Simon Smith and Mr. In-Dong Cho, Deputy Mayor for Economic Policy, at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, shared insights on the collaborative efforts between the UK and Korea in the space and Mr. Hyeon-Do Song from the Financial Services Commission discussed the evolving regulatory landscape.


Attendees also heard from a number of prominent industry leaders, including speakers from HSBC, CHUBB, KPMG, KakaoPay, Lockin Company,, R3, ICONLOOP, Hashed, Bain & Company, Transferwise, HonestFund, WorldFirst, Finnq, and WeWork. Speakers discussed the next big opportunities which Open Banking, Blockchain and other payment and lending business models can create, as well as the unique challenges and risks associated with the sector.
