The British Chamber of Commerce in Korea (BCCK) is an organisation that represents the business interests of its members in Korea. The Chamber represents a broad spectrum of British, international and Korean companies, who share significant commercial interests in the country. The Chamber’s Membership Department support the needs of BCCK members in Korea.

 

General Summary

 

The Membership Coordinator at the BCCK is primarily responsible for developing relationships with members, prospective members and achieving new membership and retention goals for the Chamber. This includes identifying, signing up new members and building relationships with existing members and advocating their needs internally. The Membership Coordinator also creates and implements short and long-term strategy for retention of current members and recruitment of new member companies. Moreover, the Membership Coordinator attends events and hosting in-house functions to promote BCCK to highlight benefits of membership to current and prospective members. The Membership Coordinator also works as staff liaison to one or several working committees.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with members, prospective members, including large and small corporations, educational institutions, private foundations, business associations.
  • Interact with members and network with potential members at various events.
  • Seek opportunities to promote BCCK and sell memberships.
  • Follow-up on member referrals, leads from board members, staff, newspaper articles, lists.
  • Encourage active members to make personal referrals and to assist with recruitment efforts.
  • Maintain the BCCK’s CRM, database develops and ensures that established procedures for processing prospective members’ applications are consistently followed.
  • Process member resignations; develops reports and undertakes special projects as applicable if membership retention problems arise.
  • Oversee maintenance of member files, including tracking of membership payments and general correspondence.
  • Coordinate with the head of events on member events and programs.
  • Coordinate with the head of marketing on marketing tools and responsibilities to properly promote membership, programs, and events.

 

 

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be fluent in English and Korean.
  • Must have excellent research and analytical skills as well as effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively and persuasively express self verbally and in writing in both Korean and English, using correct language and grammar in a professional, diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must be able to take initiative and work effectively under pressure.
  • Must be capable of independent decision-making and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be highly motivated, passionate and creative with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organisation.
  • Must have excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be proficient with database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to personally provide high level of interactive service to membership base, building relationships.

 

Preferred Qualifications & Abilities

  • BA or MA Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration.
  • Experience with using a CRM.
  • 1-2 years of work experience.

The Chamber represents a broad spectrum of British, international and Korean companies, who share significant commercial interests in the country. The Marketing & Communications Department manages the day-to-day activities and long-term marketing and communications strategy for the Chamber.

 

General Summary

 

BCCK is seeking a Marketing & Communications Manager. This position will support all aspects of the Chamber’s Marketing & Communications related activities, including but not limited to the support the execution of the BCCK’s marketing and communications strategies and will report to the BCCK’s CEO.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with members, the media and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Interact with members and network with media outlets.
  • Seek opportunities to promote BCCK and market memberships.
  • Create and curate content on the BCCK’s online marketing platforms, including the BCCK’s Wordpress-based website;
  • Manage all day-to-day BCCK platforms;
  • Support the BCCK’s public relations and marketing strategies through communication and relationship-building with journalists and BCCK members;
  • Coordinate with the head of events, trade and membership teams to support the promotion of their services;
  • Build and update media lists and databases;
  • Perform research as necessary.

 

Qualifications & Experience

The Chamber represents a broad spectrum of British, international and Korean companies, who share significant commercial interests in the country. The Chamber’s Policy programme works with member companies to advocate for their market access issues and to improve the international business environment in Korea.

 

General Summary

 

BCCK is seeking a research coordinator for its Policy programme. This position will support all aspects of the Chamber’s Policy programme-related activities, including but not limited to conducting research projects on key policy areas, drafting position papers and white papers, building relationships with key business leaders and policymakers, and handling logistics of events and meetings.

 

The position is full-time and will start in March.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

 

  • Conduct a comparative research on the international education system in Korea and a number of other leading Asian markets on behalf of the BCCK Education Subcommittee;
  • Draft a white paper on key market access issues on behalf of the BCCK Defence & Aerospace Subcommittee;
  • Work closely with the Market Access Committee and industry-specific Subcommittee members on policy-related matters;
  • Assist with preparing materials for the BCCK Policy meetings and events;
  • Monitor policy developments in Korea and the UK;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

Education & Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in politics, law, communications and other related fields required
  • MA Degree in political science, law, communications and other related fields preferred
  • Experience of conducting a research and writing a full-length report preferred
  • 1 - 2 (or more) years of work experience preferred

  • Fluent in English and Korean
  • Excellent research and analytical skills as well as effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Fundamental understanding of the Korean legislative/political process, public relations and government affairs

General Summary

 

BCCK is seeking a Trade Coordinator for its Trade Team. This position will support all aspects of the Chamber’s Trade related activities, including but not limited to conducting research projects on key trade areas and supporting the entrance of British companies into the Korean market.

 

The position is full-time and will start in March.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

 

  • Undertake market research work for UK companies;
  • Help gather information to develop strategies/business plans that support UK companies seeking to begin or expand their business activities in Korea;
  • Find and organise contacts to develop a network with UK and Korean companies and organisations;
  • Support and produce Sector Reports;
  • Aid the provision of business advice and assistance to UK companies;
  • Conduct data entry and other reporting requirements to meet quality and timing targets;
  • Support and lead projects to help UK companies enter the market;
  • Support the wider work of the BCCK team and create additional opportunities for BCCK members;
  • Provide support to the CEO as needed;
  • Support BCCK events and functions as needed.
  • Assist with preparing materials for the BCCK trade meetings and events;
  • Monitor trade developments in Korea and the UK;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
